This project was undertaken on an Erasmus Exchange at IUAV in Venice during my first year of masters.
Working in a group of 5 with one student from Manchester and three from Venice we explored the context of the Miguel Hidalgo delegation in Mexico City.
We were tasked with investigating a project currently under construction by GaetaSpringall Architects and developing a proposal that improved conditions around the Ferrocarril Railway line that dissects the region.
Within the City and Landscape Unit, the final proposal encompasses considerations for Urbanism, Composition, Landscape and Transport.
Our final proposal explored ambiguous spaces within the delegation as we mapped any open spaces in our chosen region. Understanding how we could install smaller elements of social infrastructure to improve specific conditions in the local area, thereby spreading the coverage of this social infrastructure in the hope of avoiding gentrification of zones within the city.
Centralised nodes were proposed that would oversee the development, management and upkeep of certain areas and we chose to focus on the Civic centre as our proposal to develop further in a compositional sense.
